How to Spend a Day in the District: July Edition

The perfect day in The District begins with brunch at the Grill at Highlands Row. Start out with an order of steamy cinnamon rolls and a $3 mimosa…or a Moonshine Mary if you prefer. For the main course, you’ll have a tough time deciding between the Northshore Nova Sandwich and the famous Highlands Benedict but we promise, you can’t go wrong either way.

Next, take a stroll through Fig and Company. They have beautiful lighting, repurposed furniture and are well known not only for their art, antiques, and accessories but also for their elegant jewelry and gourmet candles. Even better, this adorable store offers a weekly giveaway on their Facebook page and frequent sales in their store.

If you are a sports fan, a craft beer lover, or just enjoy a good time, we highly recommend you complete your day in The District with a visit to Blackhorse Pub and Brewery. Blackhorse brews their own beer and they incorporate fun activities like weekly trivia and concerts into their schedule of sports events which are always broadcast on the Pub’s many big screens. Check out their Facebook page for more info. Blackhorse Pub is a place you’ll come back to over and over whether it be for their Vanilla Cream Ale or the friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Extra Tips: If you’ve been keeping up with the 2014 World Cup, you’ll want to watch Argentina take on Deutschland in the final (Sunday, July 13 at 3:00pm) at Blackhorse and enjoy $5 apps and beer specials during the match. Not ready to pack things up for the day? Stop by the Bennett Galleries Summer Sale starting July 18 for 50-75% off upholstery, lighting, bedding, furniture, accessories and more!
